In 2019, I graduated with my Master of Education excited and ready to start my career. Like most new grads, I thought I had done everything right; the degree, the experience, the drive, so I started applying.

I sent my résumé to more than 60 roles across Higher Education and Corporate America. Two interviews.

That experience forced me to become the solution to my own problem, and a problem so many job seekers face. I trained to become a certified résumé writer and career coach, and that’s when I realized something important:

It wasn’t that I was unqualified. My experience simply wasn’t being presented the right way.

Once I revamped my résumé and approach, everything changed. I applied to 27 roles and within two months received 19 interviews.

That moment showed me that many talented, hardworking people aren’t overlooked because they lack skills; they’re overlooked because their story isn’t being told the right way on paper.
